Two Kids and Two Sides, Just Enough for Everyone
By Amy
I nursed my toddler throughout my second pregnancy and often, we would lie awake at night and talk about things that were in his head and for some reason, that was the time of deepest conversation between us. One night, we were snuggling and he was nursing quietly. All you could hear were the cricket sounds coming in from outside.
"Mamma," he said, breaking the silence.
"Yes Nathanial," I said, thinking that he is about to share some earth-shattering revelation that would astound me (boy, was I right there).
"If this baby doesn't share my milk with me, we are going to have to put it back!"
After a pause where my very pregnant self controlled my laughter, I cleared my throat and calmly said, "There will be two kids and two sides hon, just enough for everyone".
This continues to be our mantra to this day. Good thing it wasn't twins!
