Daddies Don't Always Know Best
By Nikki
Before my fiance and I had our wonderful daughter I was used to getting nine to 11 hours of sleep a night. Well, being a first time mom I
was not aware that I would have to spend the good part of two months after she was born sleeping in our living room on the horrible back
breaking couch. It was the only room my daughter would calm down in and sleep in! Well after those painful two months we set up her crib
and she slept wonderful inside of it and all through the night.
But little did I know that yet again she would go through a two-week stint where she would go to bed as late as midnight and wake up at 5 a.m. and not nap at all. So when she decided to do this I decided I had enough.
One weekend I was desperate -- I needed some more sleep. So being as it was my fiance had off of work that Saturday, I woke him up bright and early and begged and pleaded with the working man who cared more about sleep than he does eating. He finally got up to take care of this early bird. I laid back down and must have passed out for about five more hours. When I awoke you would have thought that my fianc?? had just learned to potty train her. He was never one for changing diapers in the beginning, he was nervous and scared and uncomfortable. Well, I guess this morning he just had no choice. She must have had the fullest diaper I have ever seen. He woke me up yelling and screaming with an excitement I will never forget. He woke me up to tell me that she had made a terrible bowl movement and he changed his first diaper. He was so thrilled, but it was so cute. Little did I know, but soon found out, that when he changed her he took the stickies that hold the diaper on her and stuck them to her and the diaper like a piece of tape. Half of it was on the top of the diaper and half stuck to her tummy. This poor girl must have been so uncomfortable!
When I changed her the time after that and I saw this, I also saw that he must have not realized, being too excited and all that it had ran up her back and down her legs. I don't know how he managed this but needless to say he was too happy and proud for me to say anything, and she got an immediate bath. He still talks about it, saying he changed his first diaper better than anyone. It's so cute though I would never have the heart to tell him!!
