Phrases I Never Expected to Say
By Bevin
One evening my 2 ?-year-old daughter, Bailey, was in a silly mood. Her
father and I were talking together and only half paying attention to
her.
At one point I looked over at her and for some reason she was licking the Scrabble board! "Don't lick the Scrabble board," I said.
Later, she was doing some art and before I could stop her she had eaten some glue. (Non-toxic.) "Don't eat glue, darling," I said.
Still later she was talking with us, put her hands in her pockets, pulled something out, looked at it with mild interest and proceeded to eat it! At this point, my hubby and I could no longer hold back the gales of laughter that had building all night. Oh, the absurd things you have to say when you're a parent!
"Don't lick the Scrabble board."
"Don't eat glue."
"Don't eat things that you've found in your pocket."
I never expected to hear myself say any of these phrases when I was in college!
