Doing the Mom Stuff
By Anjuli Borgonha
My uncle was very sick in America and my grandma and mum went over to help him. While over there my mum had an affair with a man and moved to America. My dad, Emile, was amazing, though he stuck by me the whole time and never turned me against Mum.
He does not get any money from Mum but still sends me to private school and looks after me all on his own. He works nights so I go to boarding school, but he phones me every night, and every spare minute he has he devotes to me.
He has just started seeing someone after a few years, but when he knew I was OK with it. Mum also left at the start of my teenhood and he has brought me through it amazingly and talked about all the mum stuff. I am also doing better at school because he also encourages me to aim high. He is the greatest!
