It's A Wonderful Life

By Jennifer Eckardt

I think my favorite holiday memory is when I was around 8 years old. It was the first time I saw "It's A Wonderful Life"; I was watching it with my dad. We were sitting on the couch and I was yelling at Mr. Potter to have a heart and give the money back. He put his arm around me and told me not to worry, he was going to get his in the end. After that, it had become a tradition to watch it with my dad.

My dad got sick right after I got married and then passed away in April of 1996. Now, each year as I watch it with my daughter, even though she is too young to understand, a tear comes to my eye and I whisper, "Merry Christmas Dad, I love you." I hope Anna learns to enjoy this tradition for many years to come.

Thanks for letting me share.
